He's been with us since 1985 and has never once failed to fail in his personal protection duty to Princess Peach... Let's take a look at Toad in this first Mario Kart Wii Character Review!

What's he like?
As a loyal Mushroom Retainer Toad may not be all that effective, but when it comes to burning rubber on the racetrack he's quite the top driver. His squeals of glee or disappointment may serve to boost his character, but the little guy has a nasty habit of being knocked around by pretty much any of the other Karters on the course (although I have a special spot of anger for that big ol' Kong).

This is offset nicely though, of course, by his nimble Karts and good racing stats (no, we don't do bikes here at FH... at least not me, anyway!) as well as the satisfaction of blasting through said heavy karts with a Star after they just booted you into one of the deep chasms of DK Pass.

His namesake course is nice, too, set in his own personal item block-making factory, complete with bulldozers, booster pad conveyor belts and red alert lights. And watch out for those massive crushers!

When to use him?
Personally though, I use Toad sparingly. He's an ace best kept well up one's sleeve, only to be sprung upon the unsuspecting competition in the worst of situations, in the hopes of turning the tide of the race through sheer scare factor. (The sight alone of Toad in the hands of an experienced Karter is enough to strike fear into even the most seasoned of veterans...)

Overall, Toad's a solid and dependable Karter of good ability. Just don't get in the way of the big boys... and never, EVER go for a bike.
