Mario Kart Wii Character Review - Daisy

Whilst Princess Daisy may forever be branded as a character reintroduced solely as a doubles partner for Peach in Mario Tennis - just as Waluigi was for Wario - she's actually a veteran of the series, dating back to 1989's Super Mario Land. But does she let that perceived bad name affect her racing skills? We investigate in today's Character Review!

What's she like?
Daisy's a relative newcomer to the Kart scene, having made her debut in 2003 in Double Dash!! (where she was also known as "that crazy one who keeps saying "Hi, I'm Daisy!""). Whilst her regular greetings may have been dropped, her racing ability certainly hasn't - if anything, it's increased. As with Baby Daisy, the tomboy princess is probably the most capable racer in her weight class, with a good boost to speed and increased handling and Mini-Turbos - all three of the most important factors to racing success.

Daisy doesn't hesitate to speak her mind - she's almost as expressive as good ol' Yoshi - so rather than going for a stealthy post-pipping, Daisy prefers to blast past her rivals with shouts of "Ha-ha!" and "Comin' through!". At least it makes her victory all the more known...

Daisy's home course in Mario Kart Wii is quite a treat - a pleasant seaside town with yachts, lighthouses, statues of Daisy and Luigi and even Daisy's Cruiser from Double Dash!!. But don't let the happy music or lack of immediate hazards fool you - the course's simple nature disguises some nasty turns, a hidden shortcut and a sneaky way of avoiding shells on the home stretch.

When to use her?
Personally, I use Daisy quite a lot - she's great for online races and her unmatched racing ability in her class makes her a sensible choice in any scenario. Plus, she can't be knocked around as easily as the lightweights - and whilst "Hi, I'm Daisy!" might be gone, she's still got enough to say to drive your rivals crazy!

Don't listen to the haters branding her as bad as Waluigi - Princess Daisy's back and as good as ever!

Next up...
The ultimate - the supreme - the finest racer the Mario Kart series has ever seen. Or is that a personal opinion? You'll have to see!
