The Middleweights
Hi there! Toad here, bringing you the best tips and info on all of the playable characters-even me! Just read on to find out more.
Mario: An average character, Mario has medium turns, acceleration, you name it. Rating: Number 6.
Luigi: Slightly better than Mario but with the same characteristics, Luigi is rated Number 3.
(Mario and Luigi are good for beginning racers)

The Lightweights
Peach: The heaviest lightweight(as it were), Peach has a high top speed and slows down less on grass too. She also has high acceleration. But, unfortunately, if she doesn't slide or jump when cornering, she'll slow down. She can also be bashed about by nearly everyone else. She is rated at Number 2.

Toad: I'm quite good and a wise choice for experts. However, my light weight means I can be knocked around all over the place very easily. Also, I am very "slippy", in the words of a past user. But don't let that put you off! I can still win! I am ranked at Number 5.
Yoshi: The best character in the game, Yoshi has the same characteristics as the other lightweights and can knock other lightweights about. In my opinion, Yoshi is Number 1.

The Heavyweights
Donkey Kong: This character is a right donkey. He is slow, fat and useless. He has a low top speed, low acceleration and slows down badly on grass! But he can knock other racers about(duh!) and loses less speed when cornering. Ranked Number 8(so don't pick him, OK?)
Wario: Quite a good character, Wario is the lightest heavyweight so is perhaps a little faster than the other bruisers. But otherwise he has the same characteristics as the other heavyweights. Ranked Number 4.
Bowser: Not a good choice, our dragon friend is the heaviest of them all, so he's slow(and stupid). But he has the same DK-style characteristics. Ranked Number 7.
